Tonight after his shower, Hiro Protagonist told me a lengthy, meandering story about his best imaginary friend and ur-god, Snow Leopard. (Contrary to what you might think, Snow Leopard is a large, supernaturally talented cat gifted with Star Wars/Harry Potter powers who lives in cold climates, and *not* an operating system.)

The words of his story flowed over me in a comforting stream and I heard him but also saw the light glinting off his glasses and his little hand punctuating the air for emphasis as he told a particularly exciting part. I dipped my fingertips in and out of the flow of his story.

I realized huz & I used to tell him fantastical serials complete with cliffhangers and characters he requested when he was a toddler, but the tables have turned. Now he is in fact the Scheherazade of our lives and will only ever keep adding more twists and turns to yet another wondrous tale while we listen in awe, enchanted by lands and people we can only imagine.
